RE: Trip Idea

I saw a link on the Fishsniffer today about the Kokanee starting their run. I love looking at those red, hook jawed kokes.

RE: Covering camper for winter rain

I'm on my second season with my ADCO Tyvek cover. What I like about it is it came in white. Here in the Sacramento valley, the summer heat is as much of a concern as water in the winter.

RE: Truck Sag

The passenger side is commonly heavier because of the slide mechanism but if it didn't lean before, it has to be a suspension problem. Do you use air bags? Maybe one ruptured?

But are they better than a good old cheese burger? :h

RE: Using camper oven

I have a friend that is going to let me try her pampered chef. I will be cooking a casserole/dressing so your saying I should be the stoneware under the flame?
I'd set the pyrex dish directly on the stone, on the rack.

RE: Using camper oven

I own both the stone and the air bake sheet. I use one or the other or even both depending on what I'm making. If I'm making french fries or pizza, I just bake directly on the stone, on the rack. If I'm doing bread items, I put the stone on the bottom of the oven (between rack and flame) and my cooking items on the air bake sheet.

RE: Meat in the freezer

We buy as many $6.99 frozen turkeys as I can get at Thanksgiving and use them throughout the year. I've used the last one right at a year later and couldn't tell a bit of difference from the first.

RE: Delicious potato dish for pot-lucks and BBQ's

Whoever gave me my copy of this recipe puts corn flake cereal on top for a crunchy topping. This is great for serving a crowd.

RE: Siimple Apple Cheesecake

Sorry, I'm confused. What do you mean by do not separate? They are in a tube, don't you have to separate the rolls from each other?
When you open the tube, they are all rolled up with a little perforation line to separate at for making the individual rolls. If you don't separate them, you are left with a sheet of dough.

RE: Vegatarian Recipes

Anyone have any good vegatarian camp recipes?
Where do you draw the line, meat, cheese, eggs, milk? There are lots of great pasta-veggie dishes that come to mind. If you are open to alfredo sauce, all the better.

If you can smell through a double freezer ziploc, the airport drug enforcement is looking for you. ;)

RE: Mudflap options

I think that the duraflap mud flaps are too short. I made a set out of an old rubber bed liner, a piece of diamond plate and a couple reflectors. Much cheaper than duraflaps and having the length was a major plus.

I think I'll try it for our bible study group Friday night. I wonder if any other fruit has been tried?

RE: Want to impress newbies

Nothing impresses like fresh made dessert. This past weekend I made cherry pies with ready made Pillsbury crust and canned pie filling. Served still warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

RE: Nebraska Caviar

Isn't shoepeg/white corn expensive? I can remember seeing it somewhere as I was going to make this recipe but, it was way more then I was going to pay for a can of corn.
Yep! It is very expensive for a can of corn. It is also bait for us Kokanee fishermen. It is very tasty though. ;)

RE: Nebraska Caviar

Texas Caviar is made with black-eyed peas in all my recipes. My DH doesn't like them so this is a good one for us.
With the exception of the black eyed peas of course. :B

RE: S'more leftovers

Has anyone tried making s'mores with different flavors of cookies?
I'm not a big graham cracker fan. All my smores are made with Chips Ahoy cookies. I've even been known to pour a mug of milk and dip them. :o :B
